Yen Guru Wai speaks to a people's will to survive and thrive by centering spiritual practice as a form of healing, and it lifts up a pioneer in this effort, the late Pujari Basdeo Mangal. This documentary film includes rarely seen archival footage from the Smithsonian Institution archives, sacred practices of the Mariammen community, storytelling by historians, elders, youth and tradition bearers of the Indo-Caribbean community, weaving a rich tapestry that transfers the life of a Guru who has impacted thousands of people in NYC, Guyana and beyond.
